Let the Digital Games Begin
Fun facts about the London Olympics:
- The official Facebook page of the Olympic Games had 3 million likes at the beginning of the Games – approximately 0.3% of Facebook’s 900 million users worldwide and 0.07% of the 4 billion people who will watch some of the Games.

- A quarter of all Internet users in France, Germany, the UK and US will watch at least some of the games on a PC or tablet—and in Germany, nearly half will watch via the mobile web, according to this (eMarketer). In the U.S., cable subscribers will enjoy live streaming of all events during the day. During primetime, however, NBC will be the only place to watch the Games.
- NBCUniversal expects to reap $55-60 million from digital ad sales for 2012 games, out of approximately $1 billion in overall revenue (paidContent).
- How fast has social media grown in four years? There were more Olympics-related Tweets per day during the Olympic Trials than during the entire 2008 Summer Games in Beijing (The Wall Street Journal).
